Lovers of creepy murder-mysteries are sure to be no strangers of Edgar Allan Poe, the celebrated American short story writer who created such iconic works like "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Raven."
One of his other tales, "House of Usher," has long fascinated Hollywood with its tragic story and chilling imagery. Vincent Price, who was well familiar with the repertoire of Poe, created a memorable adaptation in 1960. Whether you're a fan of this classic or you've always been curious, you are in luck – the Rehoboth Beach Film Society will be putting on a screening of this film on March 13 at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library.
"House of Usher" follows Roderick Usher, who is haunted by the ghosts of his past and his own mental decline. Starring the likes of Myrna Fahey and Mark Damon and ably directed by Roger Coman, this spooky story will leave you on the edge of your seat and hiding behind your popcorn box more than once.
According to the Cape Gazette, a local news source, this showing is part of the Film Society's Read a Movie series. For this event, it's strongly encouraged that viewers familiarize themselves with the Poe story as much as possible, either by reading it completely or checking out a summarization. Immediately following the showing, those interested are welcome to take part in an informal discussion about the similarities, differences and everything in between as they relate to both the film and the short story. If you'd like to take part in this free showing without sticking around to chat, that's perfectly fine as well.
To add an extra chill to your life this month, don't miss the showing of the "House of Usher" on March 13. You can learn more about this and other happenings by contacting a Rehoboth Beach real estate agent today.
